Did You Know…The Gelede masquerade is a dance in which the people of Yoruba honor women. Though a pleasant thought and wonderful sentiment, there is also another reason the Yoruba culture seeks to appease women. This is because they fear witchcraft, an art that the Great Mother was given by the Supreme Being. According to Yoruba belief this power lies dormant in every woman even today.
